This month’s art video – suggested by Sue Hodgetts
When I first started going to art classes, I did what so many other budding artists do and began with one of the trickiest mediums to actually master – watercolour. However, in the middle of my frustration at wondering how on earth I was ever going to paint anything that might hang on a wall, I also discovered the amazing watercolour artist Shirley Trevena. She began her art career with a small set of watercolours, but unlike most of us, she went on to become a member of the ‘Royal institute of Painters in Watercolours’ and has found international fame for her amazing talent.
She remains one of my art idols and watching her push paint around a piece of watercolour paper never ceases to amaze me. If you haven’t discovered her yet, please take a look at her ‘taster’ videos on YouTube and then ask for one of her DVDs for Christmas!
To whet your appetite, I’ve picked out a short video for you to watch below – I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
